Mdina – Caltagirone : Project ‘La Via del Barocco’ – Saturday 15th April, 2023

Yesterday’s activities of the European project programme “La via del Barocco” were very intense for all project participants, including a concert of Baroque music performed by the Associazione Musicale “Luigi Sturzo” and conducted by Maestro Mirko Musco with the special participation of Rosabelle Bianchi Soprano. The concert was presented by IreneMaria Zorzi and Antonio Bartolo.
It was a great honour to be able to witness the professionalism of all the musicians who have given glory and honour to the Città di Caltagirone in the St Paul’s Cathedral, Mdina in front of an attentive audience ready to applaud each performance!
The Mayor Fabio Roccuzzo presented fantastic works of art by the artist Beznik Harizaj and handed the gifts to the Mayor of Mdina Peter Sant Manduca, Mons Mario Tong, Manager Mariella Cutajar, Conductor Mirko Musco, Soprano Rosabelle Bianchi, Dr Ivana Legname, and the Executive Secretary of the Local Council of Mdina Mark Mallia who also worked on the European project.
The foundations for the promotion of the two areas of Baroque history were laid.

Mdina – Caltagirone : Project ‘La Via del Barocco’ – Friday 14th April, 2023

This morning the delegation from the Unesco city of Caltagirone composed of Mayor Dr Fabio Roccuzzo and his team, city councillors, Bishop Calogero Peri, and the Associazione Musicale “Luigi Sturzo”, landed in Malta where they were welcomed by the Mayor of the Mdina Local Council Peter Sant Maduca, Mdina councillors, executive secretary Mark Mallia, the Consul of the Italian Embassy Dr Andrea Varischetti, and Dr Ivana Legname president of the association The Islands and partner of the European project “La via del Barocco”.
At the Cathedral Museum in Mdina, seminars were held on the various areas of the Baroque period including art, music, theatre, and history, which the speakers masterfully presented to a packed hall, creating historical connections between Caltagirone and Mdina.
